Overview of Events

The following events are made possible through Roadrunner families: their time, dedication and efforts.  If you are interested in helping or participating in any of the events, please feel free to contact the PTA. 

If you are excited about one of these events, we would love your help with planning. Most of these events are well established so you won't have to worry about scratch, but you are welcome to make the event your own. The PTA board is willing to provide as much, or little, assistance as you need. Email us, let's talk!

• First PTA Meeting (September 5, 2024 @ 5:00 PM) | Join us on the blacktop for our first PTA meeting of the year. Learn more about the PTA and opportunities to be involved in your student's school experience. 

• Yearbook (Yearlong) | Submit photos of your student(s) on their first day of school, during class parties, at a Choir concert, etc. to be considered for the yearbook. Yearbook sales happen in the spring. 

• Tuesday Teacher Treats | Sign up for a Tuesday to bring treats to our amazing Vanderhoof teachers. 

• Vanderfest Fall Carnival (September 13, 2024 @ 4:00 PM) | Kick off the school year with magic, tattoos, Bliss Fro-Yo, crafts, bounce houses, games, and more! We need volunteers, so please consider signing up for a 30 minute shift at one of our many activities. 

• Fall Conferences Potluck Dinner for Teachers (October 16, 2024) | Help us provide a variety of soups, salads, breads, and desserts for our teachers on the first night of Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences. Signup Link to come. 

• Roadrunner Move-A-Thon Fundraiser (October 24,  2024) | Help us raise funds to Vanderhoof while having fun! The students complete as many laps as they can around the Vanderhoof field during the AMP time after gather pledges from family and friends. Prepare to be amazed by how many laps your Roadrunner will complete during this fundraiser! 

• Holiday Class Parties | Room Parents plan classroom parties across the grade level for Halloween (10/30), Winter Celebration (12/20), and Valentine's Day (2/13). Each party includes a game, a craft, and a snack. Room parents will create signups for donations needed to support the party. 

• Veteran's Day Celebration (November 11, 2024) | Join us in honoring the brave men and women of our community who have served our country.  We encourage everyone to wear red on this day. 

• Spelling Bee (January 23, 2025) | The word is "B-R-A-V-E." Students from each 3rd, 4th, and 5th class qualify to compete in the Vanderhoof Spelling Bee. The winner and runner up of the Bee move on to the district Spelling Bee, with the hopes of competing at State and then National Bee. Buzz by to cheer on our amazing spellers. 

• Heartfelt Restock for Teachers (early February) | This is the time of year when tissue boxes are empty, Clorox wipes are dried out, and all the markers have lost their caps so we ask the teachers what they need to keep their room running smoothly. The PTA will supply teacher wish lists to families who are interested in donating much needed supplies. 

• Read-A-Thon Fundraiser (March 3-7, 2025) |  A Roadrunner fundraising tradition! Students collect donations for how many minutes they will read over the week. There are class and grade competitions for minutes read. Don't forget the legendary Limo to Lunch for students who meet the fundraising minimum.  

• Science Fair (April 18, 2025) | Calling all curious minds! All roadrunners are encouraged to complete a science project and present it to a panel of judges. You will explode with amazement at what our young scientists present. 

• Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5-9, 2025)  | A weeklong celebration of our amazing teachers. There is a lunch, there are flowers, there are snacks, there is so much appreciation...stay tuned for ways you can help us shower our teachers with gratitude. 

• Field Day Snack Tables (May 8-9, 2025) | The PTA supplies healthy snacks for classes to eat during their rest time at Field Day. 

• Community Night (May 21, 2005) |  Celebrate the end of another great year while cheering the 5th grade students to Kickball victory against the teachers. Student Council will sell snacks at their Snack Shack.

• 5th Grade Continuation (May 22, 2025) | One last Roadrunner celebration for our 5th grade students start their next chapter.
