How to join UT Mailing List:
Access the following website here: https://utlists.utexas.edu/sympa
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Magnifying Glass" Icon or "Search for List(s)" button
In the search bar, type "Psi Chi". An email called "psi-chi@utlists.utexas.edu" should show up.
Click the email, and hit "Subscribe" on the left side.
Type in your desired email that you want the Weekly Updates to be sent to along with your name and hit "I Subscribe to list psi-chi".

Membership Requirements
Note that the requirements for membership in our chapter are slightly different from those on the national website!
Psychology major; 9 hours of psychology classes taken at UT (none pass/fail)
45 hours of college course-work completed (for transfer students - at least 12 hours at UT)
Overall GPA of 3.0
Psychology GPA of 3.5
One-time membership fee of $80 ($55 for national registration, $25 for local) after you are accepted
If you are eligible you will receive an email from our faculty advisor with instructions on how to apply!

Click "Join" at the bar across the top
Double check that you meet OUR requirements (listed above) and not just those on the website
Click "Apply Now," fill in the information, and click submit!

How to become a Member
What are points?
Although your membership in Psi Chi is for life, you must earn points to be considered an Active Member or a Distinguished Member in our chapter.
6-9 points each school year to be an Active Member (Invitation to end-of-semester banquet, discount on graduation regalia)
10 points each school year to be a Distinguished Member (Invitation to end-of-semester banquet, greater discount on graduation regalia, bragging rights)
How do I earn points?
1 point for each meeting attended
Points for each volunteer hour with Psi Chi are event-based
2 points for each social event attended
2 points for being a mentor
When are meetings?
General meetings are held every other Thursday at 6 PM CST at SEA Library 4.244.
The content of each meeting varies – there will be guest lectures, graduate student panels, group discussions, and more!
Dates and times of socials will be emailed out and sent in the GroupMe.
How does volunteering work?
Check your e-mail and the GroupMe for upcoming volunteer opportunities.
If you need a ride, let us know! The officer in charge of the event will help facilitate carpools.

Volunteer opportunities vary by semester, but often include work at the Austin State Hospital, the departmental honors poster session, and other events around campus.
Graduation regalia?
Yes! If you are graduating at the end of this semester, you can order cords and/or a medallion.
Prices vary by member status and will be determined closer to graduation.
