Rules for 2025 PSCB Photo Competition
The Philippine Society for Cell Biology is inviting all members to submit an entry for the PSCB Photo Contest 2025 taking place at the 8th International and 16th National Annual Convention and Scientific Meeting with the theme:
"Convergence of Innovations in Cell Biology."
This theme highlights the dynamic integration of modern technologies, methods, and discoveries in the field of cell biology. Just as diverse innovations converge to advance research and diagnostics, each microscopic image serves as a testament to how science bridges disciplines and perspectives. Through this lens, participants are invited to showcase the beauty and precision of cellular structures while celebrating how innovation drives new understanding, collaboration, and progress in life sciences.
Eligibility
The contest is open to all PSCB members and for those who will join the convention.
Board Members are NOT qualified to join the contest but may submit "non-competing" entries.
Each contestant can submit up to two (2) entries only.
Entry must be the contestant’s original work.
Only photomicrographs taken by digital cameras are allowed.
A single “High Dynamic Range” photo produced from multiple exposures and Black & White Photos are acceptable.
Photos taken with a film camera, fisheye lens, and stitched panoramas are not eligible.
Post-processing of the image is limited to cropping and color enhancements, including shadows and highlights only. Photo manipulation is not allowed.
Preferred subjects are: cells, model organisms, and sequential shots (e.g. wound healing assays). Gif format is allowed.
Entries should include the photo’s metadata (ISO, Aperture Value, and Shutter Speed).
Photo must be in JPEG/PNG format with at least 300 dpi and a maximum file size of 10 MB.
Entry must NOT:
Contain any copyrighted material, including artworks and other photos.
Contain date stamps, watermarks or any text on the image.
Have been awarded in any other photo contests and/or commercially published whether for news, advertising, or otherwise.
PSCB does NOT claim ANY ownership rights in the text, files, images, photos, or any other materials (collectively, "Content") that you submit as entries. By submitting Content, you hereby grant to PSCB a non-exclusive, fully paid and royalty-free, worldwide, limited license to use, modify, delete from, add to, publicly perform, publicly display, reproduce and translate such Content, including without limitation distributing part or all of the Content in any media formats through any media channels.
Submission of Entries
To join, contestants must register and submit their entry online by filling out this form.
Prepare your entries and upload them in this form with the file name format: “SURNAME_PHOTO TITLE”.
PSCB will only accept entries submitted through this online entry form. Entries submitted through other means will not be accepted and will be automatically disqualified.

Upon submission of the entry, contestants grant the PSCB full permission to use the photos in any marketing material (see Licensing Agreement above)
Deadline of Submission: October 15, 2024 (5:00 PM PST)
Entries submitted beyond the deadline will NOT be accepted.
Entries will be posted on October 17, 2025 on the Omnibus Bio-Medical Systems, Inc. Facebook Page for public viewing and engagement.
Photo Screening & Judging Process
The photos/photo entries shall be pre-screened and pre-selected by the PSCB Photo Contest committee.
Final judging will be conducted jointly by the PSCB and Omnibus representatives on October 24, 2025 and will be based on the given criteria:
Content and Relevance to the Theme (40%)
Artistic Value and Communication Potential of the Image (30%)
Technical Excellence and Quality (30%)
Decisions rendered by the Board of Judges are final and irrevocable. Any complaint or appeal regarding the outcome of the contest will not be entertained by the PSCB and the sponsoring company.
Prizes per category (individual and institutional) are as follows:
1st Prize: Php 5,000.00
2nd Prize: Php 3,000.00
3rd Prize: Php 2,000.00
The winner will retain full copyright of their images but, as a condition for receiving the prize, will be required to execute an affidavit permitting Omnibus Bio-Medical Systems Inc. to use the winning images for purposes of promotion and publicity in any way the said company deems appropriate.
Prizes are non-transferable and must be claimed by the winners and will be coordinated by PSCB and OBMS representatives.
