In active pursuit of achieving its mission and goals, the Philippine Society for Cell Biology has started to collaborate with other national organizations focusing on the field of Cell Biology in hope of providing opportunities for academic exchange and scholarship. The organization also hopes to further extend its ties with regional and international organizations.
Korean Society for Molecular and Cell Biology
Since the early 1980's, the field of molecular biology began to develop rapidly in Korea. Therefore, the need for a platform providing cutting-edge knowledge, collaboration, and fair evaluation of researchers and their accomplishments became widely recognized. This led to the launch of the Korean Society for Molecular Biology (KSMB) by 332 founding members on April 15, 1989. In the subsequent recognition of the importance of integrating cellular biology with molecular biology, KSMB changed its official title to the Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology (KSMCB) and joined the International Federation for Cell Biology (IFCB) in 2001. KSMCB has expanded to become one of the largest and most prominent academic societies in the field of life sciences in Korea. There are 20 KSMCB-affiliated special study groups and regional branches throughout the country. Currently, KSMCB has more than 12,000 members, with the membership continuously expanding.
KSMCB aims primarily to promote the research activities of molecular and cellular biologists in Korea and provide them with a high profile forum for the exchange of new ideas and information. In order to become an internationally renowned global society, KSMCB would like to serve as a platform for molecular and cellular biologists outside Korea as well, providing them with the opportunity of collaboration and knowledge of cutting-edge research trends.
Asian Pacific Organization for Cell Biology
Asian Pacific Organization for Cell Biology (APOCB) was founded in Canada, August 1988, and the first president was Zhen Yao. The objectives of APOCB are the advancement of research and education in the area of Cell Biology. The APOCB is dedicated to promote communication and interaction among cell biologists in the Asian Pacific region and contribute to the advancement of cell biology in all of its aspects. APOCB organize regular meetings. The APOCB Congress will be held every four years and joined by about 300 delegates. The past seven congress meetings were held in Shanghai, Sydney, Osaka, Taipei, Beijing, Manila, Singapore, Hyderabad, and Taipei.
