The macro structure of a research paper contains three parts: Introduction, Body, and Conclusion.
Introduction:
A research paper is not a mystery novel. Begin your paper with a clear introduction that introduces your topic, informs your readers of your thesis (argument) and outlines the direction of your paper. You may also want to include a comment on the significance of your paper—why is your paper worth reading?
Body:
The body of your paper should unfold your argument in a logical fashion. Cite evidence that supports your claim and address objections to your view.
Conclusion:
End your paper with a clear conclusion that summarizes your paper, restates your thesis, and brings the paper to a close.
