The Redhand Campaign

The Redhand Campaign is set in the Principality of Redhand, a small feudal state in the Flanaess, a region which comprises the eastern portion of the great Oerik continent . The Flanaess roughly corresponds to medieval Europe, sharing an almost homogeneous culture primarily based on feudalism. It is bounded in the east by the Solnor Ocean and in the west by a long, tall chain of mountain ranges, which separate it from the successor states of the Baklunish Empire and the Sea of Dust, which once held the heartlands of the Suloise Empire. Both of these great ancient nations destroyed themselves over a thousand years ago in a war which culminated in twin magical cataclysms -- the Invoked Devastation and the Rain of Colorless Fire. Most of the ancestors of the current inhabitants of the Flanaess belonged to the Suloise Empire and barbarian Oeridian tribes, who migrated into the Flanaess due to the pressures of the Suloise-Baklunish War. In the course of their migrations they conquered, or drove into isolated areas, the native Flan peoples who had been the inhabitants of the Flanaess for thousands of years before that. At the end of the migration period nascent Oeridian kingdoms held the upper hand, having mixed with, assimilated, and in some cases isolated the Suel who they competed with. At the same time the Oeridians absorbed many of the more civilized aspects of Suloise civilization.
What lies in the Far West beyond the lands that once comprised the now dead empires exists only as rumor and legend.
