What is Special Olympics?
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community
Who is eligible to participate?
Individuals must meet the following requirements to train and compete with Prince George Special Olympics:
Be a resident of Prince George County or Ft. Lee, VA
Be at least 8 years old
Be identified by an agency or professional as having an Intellectual Disability (ID)
Have completed Athlete Registration/ Release/ and Medical Forms on file with Special Olympics of Virginia.
Individuals with Autism or multiple disabilities may participate if they meet the criteria above.
