De Morgan House

De Morgan House is located in Central London, in the popular Bloomsbury region. The nearest tube station is Russell Square, but Holborn, Euston and Euston Square are within 10 minutes' walk.

Talks will take place in the Hardy Room in De Morgan House. Access to this is via the basement door (down the outside steps), and will be signposted on the first day of the conference.

Getting to London

By plane

London has several major airports nearby, including Heathrow, Gatwick, City, Stansted and Luton.

Transatlantic flights are likely to land in either Heathrow or Gatwick, both of which have rail connections to the city. From Heathrow, the Heathrow Express is a fast, frequent but expensive connection that takes you to Paddington Station. If you want to save money and don't mind how long it takes, you can also get the underground - the Piccadilly Line takes you all the way from Heathrow to Russell Square!

By train

For train travel within the UK, you can get timetables from the National Rail website:

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

For train travel from Europe, Eurostar operate the passenger services through the Channel Tunnel:

In London, services terminate at St Pancras Station, which is 1 stop along the Piccadilly Line to Russell Square, or a 15-minute walk.

By car

This is not recommended. If you insist, be aware that there is a congestion charge if you take your vehicle into the city centre on weekdays.

Travelling within London

Public transport

London has a much-used underground system (the "tube"), as well as buses. Here is a copy of the tube map:

For further information about tickets for visitors (and to buy tickets in advance if you wish), visit the Transport for London's website dedicated to visitors:

Walking

If you want to get to know London a bit better and see the sights, it's definitely worth walking. Transport for London also has a webpage about this:

Bikes

London is the home of the "Boris bike" - bicycles which are available for hire all around the city. Bear in mind that London is a busy city, with a lot of traffic and some complex junctions. For details about the bike hire scheme, see:
