Fall AGM Highlights
Post date: Nov 10, 2011 8:29:32 PM
If you didn't attend the Fall AGM (Nov 9), you missed out on a good thing. The 35-40 attendees just about managed to finish all the pizza and there were 4 happy recipients of $25 gift certificates for McNally Robinson booksellers. Show me a teacher who doesn't appreciate a free run in a bookstore!
Other notable events of the evening:
- Our PTA President Winston Hrechka gave a thorough report on his discussions with the Superintendent's Office.
- Our Vice-President Pam Stinson served fair warning on a few other members of the executive that she has earned some favours to call in after attending various meetings on our behalf. Thanks, Pam!
- Discussion and suggestions were presented on how to include recognition for the many teachers who coach in the community within an article in the Daily Graphic
- PD Committee chair Donna-Lynn Barnett was encouraged to report that many teachers have been submitting applications for PD activities for themselves or with a small group, taking advantage of the PD Autonomy funds available from the Division. Small Group PD Application Forms can be downloaded here.
- Family Swim (Nov 11, 2011 from 1:00-8:00 p.m.) was promoted by Angela Mills, our Recreation Committee chair. Angela was also congratulated for the success of this year's Welcome Back BBQ. Way to go, Angela!
- Jen Walld and Ruth Mulligan, our Equity and Social Justice co-chairs, shared their enthusiasm for a couple of workshops they attended. In turn, they hope to share the strategies they learned with other teachers in our Division. Watch for this event!
- Dianne Diggle, our Employee Benefits chair, reminded us that we have an opportunity to increase our Group Life Insurance. Deadline is November 30, 2011. Forms can be downloaded from the PTA Files page under Employee Benefits.
We hope to see you at our Spring AGM so you can join in the discussion and get the details yourself. Enjoy your long weekend and take some time to remember why you have it.
