ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DEVICES – CELL PHONES

Local Rule (Decision 14-3/0.5) Permitting Use of Distance-Measuring Device: A player or caddie may use a USGA approved legal Distance-Measuring Device in Team Matches and Tournaments unless a local rule at a Member Club prohibits the use of such a device.

CELL/SMART PHONES - All players are advised that the use of cellular/Smart phones for emergency phone calls/tests/messaging on the course is permitted as it is done so within the confines of Rule 14 - 3 and if the host facility allows those devices to be used. All players are expected to keep their phones in silent mode while on the course. If a player consistently disregards his fellow competitor or opponent to their detriment, there could be a penalty for undue delay [Rule 6 - 7] or disqualification (33 - 7) based on a player's actions.

Please keep your team captain informed about any changes in your schedule that could affect team play. A change in a playing position can change the playing order of all three teams.
Captains will call and let you know what time and where to meet for away matches.
Make sure your name is on your golf bag. Take your shoes and clubs home on Sundays for away matches. The club is closed on Monday and you may have to leave before the pro shop opens on Tuesday morning. It is possible you may be pulled up to play on a higher team than you were expecting to play on.
Count the clubs in your bag BEFORE and AFTER play. There is a penalty for playing with more than 14 clubs; also, to insure against loss.
Matches begin at 9 AM. Arrive at the club’s starting area 15 minutes before matches start. This will allow you to hear the local rules for the day and to arrive at the starting hole of your match on time.
Identify the marked ball you are playing to your opponent before teeing off on the first tee. The VISITING team has the honor on the first hole.
Keep a rules book in your bag for reference. Make an effort to learn the rules for Match Play.
If asked, you may give your opponent public information, such as position of hazards and location of sprinkler heads.
Resolve any match scoring disagreements before leaving the green of the hole you are playing. If a decision cannot be reached, then you should agree to a later decision by the Team Captains or Team Match Committee (claim of violation must be made before teeing off on the next hole or if on the 18th or last hole, before leaving the putting green).
Report match results to your Captain.
You are responsible for your opponent’s lunch and drink at home matches. If you are unable to stay for lunch, ask a teammate to hostess your opponent.
If you have signed up for a caddy (on the original sign-up sheet) and caddies are available; you are required to take one.
