2021 PENN OAKS LADIES GOLF
TOURNAMENTS
GENERAL INFORMATION
The Penn Oaks Ladies tournaments are usually played every Wednesday morning, however a few, such as the Club Championship and Member-Member tournaments, will involve other days of the week.
You MUST pay your membership dues to the Penn Oaks Ladies Golf Association in order to compete in our weekly tournaments. Your dues will be billed by the Penn Oaks Business Office in your monthly bill. If your dues have not been paid, you are not permitted to compete for prizes in these tournaments.
To play in a tournament, you must sign up by 5 PM on the Monday before the tournament, unless otherwise specified by the Tournament Committee. When you sign up for a tournament, make a note of your tee time. This is the time you are required to be on the tee and ready to begin play. It is your responsibility to show up for a tournament if you have signed up to play.
If you are not competing in a tournament but would like to play golf, sign up after the last group of tournament players and make a note to indicate that you are NOT competing in the tournament.
Tournament players must check the rules of the day (preferred lies, cart restrictions, etc.). If there are any cart restrictions on the day of play, everyone will be permitted to play preferred lies in their own fairway.
A player will be given a maximum handicap of 36 strokes.
To qualify as a tournament, there must be a minimum of eight (8) participants. Number of prizes will be determined as follows:
Less than 8 participants: No prizes awarded
8 to 11 participants: 1 prize awarded
12 to 14 participants: 2 prizes awarded
15 or more participants: 3 prizes awarded
The Pro Shop will collect the score cards after each tournament and will post all ladies tournament scores. Weekly winners will be posted on the bulletin board in the ladies’ locker room. Prizes will be available as Pro Shop credit at the end of each month.
RINGERS, BIRDIES AND CHIP-INS: Ringers are your best gross score on each of the 18 holes. The first time you play 18 holes with another Penn Oaks Ladies 18 - hole member, send all your scores for the 18 holes to Janet Balukas (jvb0224@msn.com). After your first round, every time you play 18 holes with another Penn Oaks Ladies 18 – hole member, send Janet scores only for the holes on which you have improved. Every time you have a birdie or a chip-in (any shot that goes into the hole from off the putting surface), send Janet that information. There will be prizes at the end of the year for ringers, birdies, chip-ins and most improved.
Note: Ringers, birdies and chip-ins may only be recorded when playing with another 18-hole member, and only for posted 18-hole rounds. An 18-hole round may be posted provided a minimum of 14 holes have been played and the remaining holes are scored according to par plus number of strokes you would normally receive on those holes.
HOLE-IN-ONE POLICY: Any Penn Oaks lady who has a Hole-In-One at Penn Oaks, and is a Ladies 18-Hole Member on the day of her Hole-In-One, will receive a Printed Certificate and her name will be engraved on the Hole-In-One plaque in the ladies’ locker room.
In addition, in recognition of her Hole-In-One, she will have her choice of award, such as: Hole-In-One necklace; VISA gift card; Penn Oaks flag with Hole-In-One information printed on the flag.
If the Hole-In-One occurs during a Penn Oaks Ladies Tournament, the lady who had the Hole-In-One and the ladies playing in the group with her will receive a beverage of their choice. This includes events such as Member/Guest and Doe Day, but not events hosted by outside associations, such as WGAP and Chester County.
A Hole-In-One is not valid if a mulligan was used, a temporary tee is being used or if the cup is off the green.
RAIN DATE POLICY: Every effort will be made to play the tournament on the date it is scheduled. If weather forces the start of the tournament to be delayed or cancelled, the cancellation or approximate starting time will be decided upon by 7:30 AM and can be obtained by contacting the Pro Shop at 610-399-8898.
If weather forces the cancellation of an event, the following procedure will be followed:
MAJOR TOURNAMENTS: A rain date has been scheduled wherever possible. If no rain date was scheduled or the scheduled rain date is also rained out, that tournament will be shortened by any rained out round.
NON-MAJOR TOURNAMENTS: No make-up dates will be scheduled.
LADIES TIE BREAKER RULES: Unless otherwise stated in a tournament’s description, ties will be broken as follows: A match of cards, beginning with the total back nine net score, followed by the total front nine net score, and lastly, by the #1 handicap hole.
MAJOR TOURNAMENT TIE BREAKER RULES: In all major tournaments, ties for first place will be broken by a 3-hole playoff (total net score), beginning on hole #1, between all players tied for first place. If any players are still tied after the 3-hole playoff, a sudden death playoff will begin on the 4th hole and continue until a winner is determined. Ties for second and/or third place will be determined in accordance with the Tie Breaker Rules using the sum of all rounds played in that tournament. In the Chairman’s Cup, the better score on each hole from the two rounds will be used with the Tie Breaker Rules.
