Industry Interaction
Symon has started his own company, SKP Engineering Research, to encourage and develop collaborative projects with academia, industry, and various research institutions.
Recent industry experience includes radar cross-section (RCS) measurements and modeling of military vessels for radar systems and the research and development of highly compact circularly polarized antennas for satellite communications.
Professional software design and implementation experience includes automated control programs for nuclear reactors and the reporting of antenna measurements in anechoic chambers.
Other engineering experience includes programming for financial institutions, technology investment analysis, radome design and FMCW for millimetre-wave automotive radar, and the research and development of compact multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas for wideband military communications.
Symon has provided engineering and research services to the following companies and institutions : Samsung, Leonardo, Pocket Qube Shop, J&D Wilkie, Honeywell - COM DEV, Raytheon Canada, Communications Securities Establishment Canada, Defense Research and Development Canada, Magna International, Communications Research Centre Canada, and Brookfield Asset Management. Current involvement includes support and continued collaborations.
