As a Chapter we endeavor to preserve local pioneer history with a special emphasis on LDS pioneers. The The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was established in Pocatello in 1888 and built its first house of worship in Pocatello on the corner of Center and Garfield in 1903. This was known as the LDS First Ward of Pocatello, Idaho. This beautiful building with its unusual architecture and stain glass windows was used by the local community for many years and was eventually torn down in 1962. Portneuf Pioneers is in the planning process of placing a memorial on this corner to commemorate this wonderful building and its place in local history.
