Our research focuses on plant biodiversity and adaptation.

The main focus of our reseach group is to understand how biodiversity of tropical plants is shaped through evolutionary forces resulting from human and environmental impacts. Our activity is essentially based on population genetics but also integrates a multidisciplinary approach including ecology, botany, molecular phylogenetics and anthropology. It is structured around three axes:

(i) Evolutionary history &  domestication;

(ii) Diversity & conservation;

(iii) Global changes, diversity & adaptation.

Our team is located in Montpellier, France, at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD). It is locally known under the name DYNADIV and is associated to a larger research structure called DIADE, which is short for: DIversity, Adaptation and Development of Plants. Some members are appointed abroad, in southern countries like Senegal, Cameroon, Niger, or Peru.

We are also involved in teaching and formation through our collaboration with local universities in France and abroad, or summer school organisations.
