Plant Biodiversity & Adaptation Research Group

DYNADIV · UMR DIADE

Our research focuses on plant biodiversity and adaptation. We investigate how the biodiversity of tropical plants is shaped by evolutionary forces resulting from human and environmental factors. Our work is primarily based on population genetics but also integrates a multidisciplinary approach, including ecology, botany, molecular phylogenetics, archaeobotany, archaeology and anthropology. It is structured around three main areas:

  • Evolutionary history of domestication,

  • Diversity and conservation,

  • Global changes, diversity and adaptation.

Our team is located in Montpellier (France), at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD). It is locally known under the name DYNADIV and we are associated to a larger research structure called UMR DIADE, which stands for "DIversity, Adaptation and Development of Plants". Some members are based abroad in southern countries like Senegal, Cameroon, Niger, Cambodia or Peru.

We are also involved in teaching and training through our collaboration with local universities in France and abroad, as well as in the organization of summer schools.
