Research Projects

  • Activity 6B: Framework for Utilization of Mobile Data Collection, ITS Resource Center. Sponsored by New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJ DOT)

  • Short Summary: Developed mobile data communication platform for transportation infrastructure, where tethered connection transformed into untethered connection with the help of "Bluetooth" and "Wi-Fi" technologies.

  • ITS Applications on Interstate-76 to Minimize Traffic Delay in Peak-Hours. Supported by Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC)

    • Short Summary: "VissimVAP" code was utilized to implement ITS technologies on Interstate-76 and evaluate the impact of those ITS application in the case of congestion reduction.

  • Impact-Based Decision Making Framework for Community-based Resiliency Planning under Extreme Storm Events. Sponsored by New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA)

  • Short Summary: Utilized "Vissim" software to model evacuation traffic scenarios and later "Visual Basic" code were used to integrate with hydrodynamic model and re-route evacuees dynamically.

  • Reservation based traffic signal network optimization. Sponsored by USDOT Region 2 University Transportation Research Center (UTRC)

    • Short Summary: Genetic Algorithm (GA) was coded in "MATLAB" environment to optimize signal timing and reduce traffic delay.

  • Evaluating the impacts of connected vehicle technology on evacuation delay. Clinic Project in collaboration with Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville (SIU)

    • Short Summary: Application of Connected Vehicles (CV) technologies was evaluated on-notice evacuations using an integration of "Vissim" traffic model and "Visual Basic" code.

  • Risk analysis of autonomous vehicles in mixed traffic stream, Sponsored by USDOT Region 2 University Transportation Research Center (UTRC)

  • Short Summary: "Fault-Tree based risk analysis" method was used to identify the risk associated with autonomous vehicles deployment in mixed traffic stream.
