Oula Antinpoika Pitkä (1667–1739), who lived on the Patosalmi farm at lake Alakitka, is the progenitor for the Pitkä family line which has inhabited the county of Salla.

The sign of Olli Antinpoika Patosalmi (1764-1849) from the year 1818. His sign has lapp origin and it is most probably the original sign of the whole Pitkä family. The swastika or Thor's cross was a magic sign, which protected from all bad.
Pitkä family lived at Patosalmi until 1860's. Part of the family moved away and part of the family died from men's side.
Part of the family moved to the lake Tiermasjärvi around 1790.
From there Heikki Pitkänen (1798–1878) moved in 1833 to the Mattila farm in Salla county (which at that time had name Kuolajärvi) at lake Onkamojärvi.

Part of this family started using surnames Kujala and Anttila, which came from the farm names.

Possibly also Lango family in Norway's Kautokeino has got its origin from Kuusamo.
Matti Mikkel's son Anti appeared to Enontekiö in the hunger year 1696. His sons were using surname Pitkä. This family moved on 1740's to Kautokeino and Pitkä name changed to Norwegian form as Lango.
