Start of construction

Memorial day weekend was busy for us. Despite some pretty miserable rain during the first part of Monday, we cut out and put together half of the roof and most of the bar pit area.We also talked about different designs for mounting the frame to the truck. The basic idea is to run beams down the width of the truck bed (either above the truck through the bottom of the truck bed or below or both), attach vertical plates to these crossbeams, and attach the bench area to that. An approximate design is on right. The final design will not have the brackets shown at bottom (or they will be reinforced with diagonal cross-braces). If we can easily get away with it. the horizontal beams will run under the truck instead of through the truck bed. Here is the plan for the next week:* Finish the roof (ideally Wednesday and Friday)* Finalize design for mounting everything to piano; decide if we are building sides in identical manner to roof (Friday) * Start on sides; get materials for mounting (Sunday)
