Reunions

The Petrolia Ex-Students' Association hosts a school wide reunion every three years. The reunions are held on the 2nd Friday and Saturday of June, every three years. In 2000 the Association broke stride and held the reunion a year early since the year 2000 was a special year.

The most recent Association Reunion was held June 12th and 13th, 2009, therefore, the next Reunion is scheduled for June, 2012. Mark your calendar now, reserve June 8th and 9th, 2012, and plan to join us for the Petrolia Ex-Students' Association Reunion.

The Association officers serve three year terms and are elected during the regular business meeting at each Reunion. The officers meet several times prior to each reunion to plan and organize it. The association president assigns the officers to head up the various committees which are responsible for the event. The officers recruit volunteers to serve on their committees to share the fun. A theme is selected by the officers for each reunion, which gives it a unique flavor.

Younger PHS graduates are encouraged to get involved either as an officer or as a committee volunteer for the event. The older grads are gettting tired. They have been organizing reunions for several years and need a rest.

Shirley (Trent) Wilson, a graduate of the Class of 1955, is the secretary for the association. She will get "the word out" about the reunion and will be glad to receive a tip on the located of a person so she can send them an invitation to the next reunion. Shirley will get the invitations out in the first part of April of the reunion year. Several classes usually have "special class reunions" in conjunction with the school wide events.

A notice is usually posted on the Petrolia School message board of Classmates.com and in the Clay County Leader. If you get an e-mail from Shirley requesting assistance in locating other Petrolia grads, please give her a hand.

You will never know what you are missing if you have never attended a PHS Reunion till you show up to join in the fun.

Many people over the years say as they are attending a reunion, "Wow, why didn't I come before--this is so much fun!"
