Dr. Perry D. Moore graduated from Midwestern State University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and History and a Master of Arts degree in Government in 1970. He went on to the University of Texas at Austin where he earned his Ph.D. in Government in 1975 focusing on Public Administration, Public Law and American Politics. Dr. Moore currently serves as provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. He is the Chief academic officer and second ranking executive officer of the university, responsible for all major academic endeavors and academic strategic planning. He also oversees all enrollment and marketing activities including admissions, financial aid, registrar, and university marketing. Dr. Moore has been at Texas State University-San Marcos which is the largest campus in the Texas State system and the 6th largest in the state since 2004. Some of Dr. Moore’s accomplishments as Provost at Texas State include the addition of 7 new academic programs, the addition of over 100 full-time faculty and significant improvements in faculty salaries, dramatically increased the diversity of college deans and oversaw the opening of the new campus in Round Rock. Prior to his service at Texas State, Dr. Moore was at Wright State University from 1978-2004. At Wright State, Dr. Moore began his trek through academia as the Director of Applied Behavioral Sciences Graduate Program in 1978 and rose to Chair of the Political Science Department and Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. He was named Provost of Wright State in 1998 and finally Senior Vice President in 2002 serving until 2004. Dr. Moore and his wife, Marianne currently reside in San Marcos, Texas.
