Cristy grew up in Northern California, where she completed her undergraduate work at Humboldt State University in Studio Art and Art Education. While taking a gap year, in between undergrad and grad school, Cristy broke her leg while rock climbing and had to have surgery. At that point, she decided to move to Kauai where she could heal up and get a new perspective on life. While living there she was a personal chef and worked in a gallery, she swam in the ocean daily, and watched the sun set from the beach every night. It was an amazing time, but she felt the itch to move on to different things. It was then, in the summer of 2007, that she moved to Portland where she got a job at Oregon Mountain Community, she made some amazing friends, and got acquainted with Portland, a city where she knew no one upon moving. Cristy started grad school in the summer of 2008 and completed her student teaching, in Room# 33 (Photography), at the original Grant High School. Since then, she has continued to teach her love of Photo to the Grant community. In her free time, she loves to cook, garden, and spend time with her friends and family. She loves her job and looks forward to coming to school everyday. Cristy, who is just getting back from 8 months of maternity leave, lives with her partner Talbot, and sons. Because of “mom responsibilities”, she will be unavailable before and after school this year.
