Christmas 2015

Dear Friends of Saint Philomena,

A few years ago in a Christmas message during a tree lighting, Pope Benedict XVI offered the following good wishes for the world.

At this holy time, when we look at the lights on a Christmas tree, may the gaze of our minds and hearts, rest not only on the horizon of this world, on its material things, but like the Christmas tree that by its very form points upward, may our gaze be directed toward God.

And may we remember that we too are called to provide light for the path of others in our lives and to give them hope especially when we feel the weight of difficulties, of problems, of suffering, and when it seems at times that the world is enshrouded in a veil of darkness. We need only remember that the true light that illumines our hearts and give us sure Hope can only be found in the Child whom we contemplate at Christmas, in the humble manger, because He is the Lord who draws near to each of us in our weakness . . . and invites us to receive Him in Faith.

And finally may each one of us contribute something of that light to the world in our families, our workplace, in our neighborhoods. May everyone be a light for those at their side and so overcome the selfishness which closes our hearts. For even a small gesture of kindness is like ONE of these lights which together with all the others lights up even the darkest night. And so on this holy day, together with the whole Church, we rejoice for Today Christ our Savior is born for us!

May this celebration of the Birth of Christ increase the presence of God in our souls and may we welcome Him into our hearts, and into our homes. May God draw us all into the mystery of His love and may we join our voices with the host of angels, and to the generations of people before us who sing Glory to God in the highest, and may His Peace rest upon us.

As we celebrate the Feast of the Birth of the Lord we are aware that the birthday of Saint Philomena is also near at hand on January 10, 2016. I invite you to join us at the National Center of the Universal Archconfraternity of St. Philomena for Mass and Devotions.

We will celebrate the Solemn Mass of the Baptism of the Lord on Sunday January 10, 2016 at 10:30 AM followed by the Novena Prayers in honor of Saint Philomena and veneration of her relic. Religious items and sacramentals will also be available.

The National Center of the Archconfraternity at Holy Martyrs Church in Oreland, Pennsylvania, is also the grateful recipient of the wonderful gift of the Altar and the Pulpit used by His Holiness, Pope Francis during his recent visit to Philadelphia. They are a stunning addition to our church and a historic testimonial to the unity of the one flock and the one shepherd. Please visit our parish website at holymartyrschurch.org and you can also find us on facebook. I wish you God’s blessings during this holy time and for the coming new year through the holy intercession of our patroness, Saint Philomena. I look forward to being with you on January 10th.

In the Lord,

Reverend Jason V. Kulczynski

July 1, 2015

Dear Friends of Saint Philomena,

As you may know, the National Center of the Universal Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena recently moved to a new home when I was appointed Pastor of Holy Martyrs Catholic Church.

The new address is:

120 Allison Road

Oreland, PA 19075

We recently celebrated our Patronal Feast on June 30 with Mass and a little reception. There is much to celebrate as recent years were difficult here as the parish was involved in a study together with the surrounding parishes to determine the future feasability of each of the churches in this area.

I wrote to the Parish in the bulletin following my first week here:

This time marks for a parish a wonderful, and for some, an unexpected opportunity to continue to share our faith with future generations in the family of Holy Martyrs Catholic Church and to continue to witness to the goodness of God to all the people in our neighborhoods.

It is an exciting time also for the devotees of Saint Philomena as we work to establish for her a center of devotion here at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church. As always, the Archconfraternity relies on your support, and especially at this time, the National Center is in need of your support as well. We are always grateful to our generous benefactors whom we remember in our prayers and Masses offered for your intentions.

As until recently, the future or Holy Martyrs Church was uncertain, we postponed scheduling events far into the future, as we also did with the scheduling of Mass intentions. Therefore at this time, we have a good number of available Masses for which you may schedule your intention. It you would like to arrange for Mass to be offered for yourself or your loved ones at the National Center of the Archconfraternity, please visit, or contact the Church Office at 215-884-8713 for information and availability.

Please also plan to join us for the celebration of the Feast of St. Philomena which will be on Sunday, August 9th 2015. Mass will be offered at 10:30 AM. It will also be the Mass at which I will be officially installed as the Sixth Pastor of Holy Martyrs Catholic Church. Selected sacramentals will be available on that day, and are always available from the Church Office, and her relic will be available following Mass for veneration.

Please continue to pray for me, and all the directors, and members of the Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena, as we pray also for you.

Yours in the Lord, and Saint Philomena,

Reverend Jason V. Kulczynski

U.S. National Director

Dear Friends of Saint Philomena,

We are fast approaching the Feast of the Discovery of the Tomb and the Sacred Relics of our patroness Saint Philomena. Accompanied by wonders and questions, it marked the introduction of this long lost martyr to the world. Quickly following was the introduction of this wonder-worker to many people who sought out her powerful intercession with Almighty God, including Popes and those who would also be recognized as Saints.

In observance of this sacred celebration, the National Center of the Universal Archconfraternity in the United States will be joining with As the Spirit Leads on WTMR AM Radio 800 (Monday - Friday 4-5 pm) and host Barbaranne Marion, on May 31, 2015, at the Clarion Hotel in Essington Pennsylvania for Mass and a Conference. Doors Open at 12:00 noon and Mass will be offered at 1:00 pm. For Tickets and Information you may contact As the Spirit Leads at 610-932-6000. Following devotions to Saint Philomena her relic will be available for veneration as well as a blessing with the Oil from her Shrine in Mugnano del Cardinale, Italy. Sacramentals will also be available.

I would also like to invite you to an Exposition of Sacred Relics to be held at Saint Katherine of Siena Church Hall in Philadelphia on Thursday, June 4th, 9700 Frankford Avenue in Philadelphia. Come visit over 50 Relics, including the True Cross, St. John Paul II, St. Padre Pio, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. Katherine Drexel. Come learn about the Saints, and their service to the Lord. Hosted by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of St. Katherine Parish.

And finally, the National Center will have a new address. I have been appointed Pastor of Holy Martyrs Church in Oreland, Pennsylvania by Archbishop Charles Chaput, Archbishop of Philadelphia, effective June 15, 2015. Following June 15, 2015, all correspondence to the National Director and the National Center of the Universal Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena should be address to the Archconfraternity at: Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 120 Allison Road, Oreland, Pennsylvania 19075. The phone number is 215-884-8575. Please pray for a peaceful transition and that we may take advantage of this opportunity to introduce Saint Philomena to a new community of the faithful.

Yours in the Lord and Saint Philomena,

Reverend Jason V. Kulczynski,

National Director of the Universal Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena for the United States

Father Jason Kulczynski, U.S. National Director, and Mrs. Lisa Bowen, former Regional Director for Delaware and Pennsylvania,

of the Universal Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena during, a meeting at the previous National Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
