Members are remembered at the Masses and Prayers offered for our benefactors at the International Shrine in Mugnano del Cardinale, Italy and in Centers throughout the world. Members also receive our e-newsletter periodically.

The customary donation at the time of joining the Archconfraternity helps us with the costs of the materials and shipping and enables us to continue to share our devotion to St. Philomena.

THE UNIVERSAL ARCHCONFRATERNITY OF SAINT PHILOMENA

The Universal Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena is a Pious Union of Prayer and Apostolic Action which proposes the commitment of the members to a life lived according to the Gospel of Christ, following the example of faith and chastity of Saint Philomena; the spreading of her devotion and the Christian education of youth.

DUTIES

Members of the Archconfraternity wear, or carry on their person, the Blessed Cord of St. Philomena.

Members are encouraged to learn the story of Saint Philomena by studying her life, and encouraging others to do the same.

Members recite daily, as far as possible, the Chaplet of Saint Philomena.

Members are encouraged to receive attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and receive Holy Communion on the principal Feasts of our patroness, January 10th, May 25th and the 10th, 11th or 13th of August.

Members are asked to support the Sanctuary, and the worldwide apostolate of the Archconfraternity by their prayers and donations according to their means.

To become a member of the Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena it is necessary to join through an officially recognized Center of the Archconfraternity in order to be enrolled at the Sanctuary in Mugnano del Cardinale, Italy.

The names of the members throughout the world are recorded in the official register at the Sanctuary.

RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES

Mass will be celebrated every second Friday of the month for all living and deceased of the Archconfraternity.

The members will benefit in all of the prayers for our members and benefactors offered at the Sanctuary.

Members may gain a plenary indulgence (with the usual conditions*) when one first wears the Cord of St. Philomena, as well as on her Feast Days of her birthday on January 10th, the Finding of her tomb on May 25th and her principal Liturgical Feasts of August 10th and 11th.

* Pope Leo XIII approved and indulged St. Philomena’s blessed cord on the 15th December 1883. Under the conditions laid down by the Church; Confession, Holy Communion and prayer for the Holy Father are nececssary to gain a plenary indulgence.
