On Sunday, November 1, 2015, the Episcopal Church of the United States Installed their 27th Presiding Bishop, The Right Reverend Michael Curry, at Washington National Cathedral.
Bishop Curry is a 1975 graduate of Hobart College, Geneva, New York, where he studied with my late father, Lindsay Lafford, in the classroom and at St. John's Chapel, an association which he kindly reports enhanced his life. To honor Hobart & William Smith Colleges and that association, Bishop Curry asked to include some of my father's music in the Organ Prelude for the Installation, performed by Cathedral Organist Benjamin Straley. My sister, Julia Welbon, brother, Llewellyn, and I were blessed with tickets to attend, and had a wonderful day honoring the spiritual and musical legacy of my father, who passed away in April 2014 at the age of 101 1/2.
This is a link to the YouTube archive of the Installation, configured to begin with my father's "Ostinato" from "A Little Organ Suite", followed by his "Dithyramb on 'Paderborn:'"
