衛新 重辦「波城同源會」

我回來了！」前華埠騰皇閣餐館老闆李衛新3日高調在華埠治安會議中現身，大談重開餐館和創辦「中華同源會」波士頓分會計畫，自信滿滿地要在波城找回失落十年的新舞台。
曾任紐英崙中華公所主席、李氏公所美東總長，現為全美李氏敦宗總公所元老的李衛新，曾是華埠活躍成員。十多年前，其家族經營的華埠大型餐館騰皇閣酒樓關閉後，李衛新似乎隱退江湖，在波城華埠銷聲匿跡。
依然快人快語的李衛新說，這十年來他和太太李徐慕蓮到處旅行。在參與全美各李氏公所宴會中，發現青黃不接、年輕人對族務和社區事務不感興趣的嚴重問題。他們分別在俄勒岡州波特蘭市和波士頓舉辦過兩次「世界李氏宗親青年領袖峰會」，聽取年輕人的心聲。
後經人介紹知道「同源會」組織，決定回到波士頓創辦「波士頓同源會」(Chinese American Citizens Alliance)，希望擴大族內計畫，在社區吸引有經驗的社區人士，更重要的是青年會員。李衛新說，「同源會」早在華人來美參與鐵路建設工程時期即成立，現有18個分會。波士頓早在1920年代有過分會。現在重創分會，要以「行行出狀元」為信念，舉辦各種實際、創新的研討、講座、聯誼、建立網絡活動吸引和嘉惠年輕人。
對於大門口就是華埠公園廣場的原「騰皇閣酒樓」，李衛新也有重新整建和開張的新計畫，可能命名「大上海」的新餐館將以波士頓「唯一上海餐館」新面目出現。他說，華埠不乏粵菜餐館，但找不到一家上海菜餐廳。高檔新餐館將自加州和紐約市聘請大廚。一樓提供便餐形式的早午晚餐上海菜。二樓則以筵席、講究菜餚餐食為主。他說，營業執照和酒牌申請、餐館室內設計和裝修工程約耗時6至8個月，新餐館預計明年開張。

My husband and I went through the McDonald's driveway window and I gave the cashier a $5 bill.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her 25cents.
She said, 'you gave me too much money.'
I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar back.'
She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the 25cents, and said 'We're sorry but we don’t do that kind of thing.'
The cashier then proceeded to give me back 75 cents in change.

The repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.
He shook his head and said, 'You need a 1/4 horsepower.'
I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4 and he said, 'NOOO, it's not. Four is larger than two.'
We haven't used that repairman since...
I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbor call the local city council office to request the removal of the DEER CROSSING sign on our road.
The reason: 'Too many deers are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'

My daughter went to a Mexican fast food and ordered a taco.
She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.'
He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce.
I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked,
'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?'
To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?'
He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'
The pedestrian light on the corner beeps when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an 'intellectually challenged' co-worker of mine.
She asked if I knew what the beeper was for.
I explained that it signals blind people when the light is red.
Appalled, she responded, 'what on earth are blind people doing driving?!'
She is a government employee.....
When my wife and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car after a
service, we were told the keys had been locked in it.
We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door.
As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked.
‘Hey,' I announced to the technician, 'its open!'
His reply, 'I know. I already did that side.'
