Let's connect with fellow educators on Twitter (@pesdhh, #pesdhh), our Facebook group and/or Pinterest (not yet) and create a viable professional learning community (PLC) for ourselves. What we contribute to the professional learning community can fundamentally change the way we solve problems, stay current on teaching and learning, and advocate for our students and for ourselves as important members of educational teams.
When posting to one of our social media groups consider sharing, questioning, and or commenting in ways related to one of the questions below (examples only):
What do we, as teachers, need to understand at a deeper level in order to increase our students’ learning?
What instructional practices are we already using that would have a greater impact on student learning if we improved them?
What new instructional practices can we adopt to help our students learn and achieve at higher levels?
How will we go about the process of becoming even better teachers and moving to a deeper level of understanding?
How will we know we are reaching our goal of becoming more accomplished in our teaching? What types of information will we gather to determine this?
How will we communicate information to others about what we are learning and doing?
How do teachers of the Deaf and hard of hearing assert themselves so IEP teams make informed decisions?
Besides social media and group interaction, there are other ways to build our voice through PESDHH.
