Its always important to be able to squat in perfect form at all times! With or without weight. Remember sitting onto a chair is a common form of squat, and it needs to be done well to avoid back injury. The muscle strength and movement pattern that comes from correctly performed body weight squats is one of the best ways to reduce your risk of back injury.
The compressive force within your spine from doing a sit-up reaches around 2.5 times your normal standing compressive load. Thats like standing with 2 more people on your shoulders.That can be very damaging for your spine. PLEASE DON'T DO SIT-UPS - EVER!!!

You can do these from your knees if you can't do full ones from your toes. Be careful with these though, if you don't get the form right they can cause injury. Contact me if you need help with this
