Can exercise help with depression?
According to this article from Make Lemonade, "One in nine cases of depression could be prevented if people exercised at recommended levels".
We have long been encouragers of exercise to support mental health, and this article supports that view. The article refers to a study from JAMA Psychiatry (The Journal of the American Medical Association ), where it suggests:
"significant mental health benefits from being physically active, even at levels below the public health recommendations. Health practitioners should therefore encourage any increase in physical activity to improve mental health. "
