Every character in Penny Dreadful LARP has a specialisation: something that makes them unique, that relates to at least one of their skills. It could be an area of specialist knowledge, a unique ability, an unusually high level of skill, or anything else your imagination comes up with.
Your specialisation must have a short name, which will appear on your visiting cards.
Examples:
Helene is playing a doctor and is diagnosing a disease. When she reads her patient's treatment tag, it says that the disease is a tropical disease. She swapped visiting cards with Martin earlier, and remembers his "Doctor of Tropical Diseases" specialisation, so calls him over to help with the diagnosis and treatment.
Howard has decided to play an archaeologist, and has the History and Antiquarian skills. He decides his past excavations have largely take place in Egypt, so for his specialisation he decides on 'Egyptologist'. At an event, he examines an interesting pot and learns that it's from ancient Egypt. He consults a ref and is able to learn some additional information about the pot.
Robert and Benedict have both created detective characters with exactly the same skills and want to distinguish themselves. Robert comes up with a special ability to win fights by analysing his opponent and predicting their moves, combining his Blunt Weapons and Insight Skills. He describes it as 'Master of Analytical Bartitsu' for his visiting cards. At an event he uses his ability to hold off attackers to give Benedict time to solve a critical puzzle.
