All clothing and shoes MUST be marked neatly with the student’s name. Please write the names only on the inside of the shoes and clothing.
Please have a faculty member check your dancer’s shoes for proper fitting before wearing them for class.
Proper Ballet Bun:
Secure hair in a tight ponytail with bangs and fly-aways pulled back, using hair-colored elastic.
Wrap hair into tight bun using bobby pins.
Use a hair-colored hair net over to the bun to secure all fly-aways.
Use hairspray/gel as necessary.
Proper Ponytail:
Secure hair in a tight ponytail with bangs and fly-aways pulled back, using hair-colored elastic.
Use hairspray/gel as necessary.
No fingernail polish or excessively long nails.
No jewelry (except small earrings) may be worn in class.
No leg warmers or extra clothing of any kind may be worn in class.
The proper way to wear your leotard and tights is without underwear. The tights have a hygienic cotton crotch and the leotard is similar to wearing a bathing suit.
Holes that appear in leotards or tights should be mended immediately and/or replaced.
Shoes with holes need to be replaced in a timely manner. Students will not be permitted to dance in shoes with holes for more than one week.
PCBT asks all of our students to dress appropriately when arriving and departing class and during rehearsals. Dancewear is not appropriate attire for the street and students should wear street clothing over their leotards and/or tights.
Dance shoes should never be worn outside.
Pointe Shoes: Dancers will be invited to get pointe shoes when they are exhibiting the following: strong core and feet, and execution of proper body alignment and technique. Sewing and care instruction will be given at the time of the first purchase. Please do not sew pointe shoes until the Artistic Director has approved them.
