For many, Eden is a real place that existed at the beginning of time. For others, it is a state of mind. It could be a combination of both, a real place and time before the rise of civilization. Modern man began existence on Earth as a hunter gatherer wandering about on what was once a plentiful world until nature was no longer able to support ever increasing populations. People were forced to join forces to build cities, plant fields and domesticate wild beasts. As a result, nature was forever altered and disrupted.
If agriculture, governments and technologies that support an industrialized world population of over six billon people fail, those humans that survive would probably find it necessary to return to a self sufficient daily struggle to live on only what nature can provide. Nature would also fight back to recover but the planet that would evolve would be quite different from what we know now.
