SERGIO PASTERIS - PROFESSIONAL CURRICULUM
Sergio Pasteris studied at “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Turin, taking his diploma in Choral Music and Choir conduction under the guide of Mario Quaglia and Music Composition under the guide of Giorgio Ferrari.
He attended the Orchestra Conduction Courses under Piero Bellugi. He also attended to some seminars of Chigiana Academy held by L. Berio, L. De Pablo and P. Boulez.
He taught at the Choral Singing School of “Ente Autonomo Teatro Regio” in Turin.
At “G. Nicolini” Conservatory in Piacenza he taught, first, Music Theory, Dictation and Solfeggio, then he won the chair of Armonia and Counterpoint. At “G. Verdi” Conservatory in Turin, until 2005, he hold the chair for Choral Music and Choir Conduction.
At the Turin Conservatory he had also other charges:
- from 1977 to 1998 as a member of the Direction Committee
- from 1988 to 1998 as the Vice-Director
- from 1992 to 1998 as a member in the Administrative Committee.
In 1996 he founded “Pianeta Musica”, a project with 52 alternative items, internal to Turin Conservatory, in order to facilitate the future professional choices.
For seven years he was the Assistant Conductor of R. Goitre at the Corale Universitaria di Torino; furthermore, he was the Conductor of various choir groups, participating to national and international competitions.
For 15 years he was the Vice President of the Youth Musical Association (A.GI.MUS.) at the Turin Conservatory.
He dedicates himself to choir conducting, composing and to the revisions and transcriptions both for choir and orchestra. He is author of musical publications.
He collaborated for many years with the Choral Music Review “La Cartellina”.
He is regularly invited as a member of jury in national and international competitions, as a relator in stages, conferences and meetings.
In Turin, at Piccolo Regio Theatre and at Lingotto “Sala dei Cinquecento”, he participated, as a coordinator and relator, to the Congress Vocalità e Canto Corale nella Scuola Elementare (Vocality and Choral Singing in the Primary School), organized by De Sono Association for Music, IRRSAE Piedmont, School Administration Board of Turin, Piedmont Regional Administration, Turin City Administration.
From 1980 to 2003 he was member and President in the Artistic Commission of A.C.P. (Piedmont Choir Association).
From 1991 to 2002 he was a member of the Artistic Board of F.E.N.I.A.R.CO (National Italian Association of Regional Choir Partnership).
Since 1996 he was the Conductor of the Coro dell’Università degli Studi di Torino (Turin University Choir), a branch of the “Piedmont University Student Association for Musical Activities”, whose members are students, teachers and administrative personnel of Turin University.
Since October 2006 he was teacher of Music Theory at D.A.M.S. ( Faculty of Educational Sciences) at Turin University.
In 2014 he was at the top of the list in Humanities Department as University contract teacher (advertisement n. 10 concerning the D.D. n. 877, 2014 26th Februar) in Professional Special Courses.
Sergio Pasteris works include:
Compositions: sacred and secular compositions for treble, equal and mixed voices; for choir and instrumental groups; transcriptions and elaborations; adaptations for choir from polyphony, jazz, folk songs, etc. Many of them were created to be inserted in CD and DVD produced by the Coro dell’Università degli Studi di Torino (Turin University Choir).
Sound-tracks: among the film and advertising tracks, to remark that one (for choir and instrument) composed for the essay film Analisi di una memoria, and that of the animation film Colapesce for the Cinema National School (Cinematografy Experimental Centre, referred to the first degrees about this specialisation).

Coro dell’Università degli Studi di Torino: CD and DVD list
1) 2000 - CD A. D. 2000: Viaggio nella Musica Sacra dal Gregoriano ai nostri giorni (A journey in Sacred Music from Gregorian till today), live recording of Jubilee Year and Holy Shroud Exibition Concert in Turin, 30th September, 2000, at St. Martyrs’ Church.
2) 2006 - CD: Il Coro dell’Università degli Studi di Torino esegue canzoni di Paolo Conte (The Turin University Choir performs Paolo Conte songs) with the Paolo Conte Instrumental Quintet. (Paolo Conte: allowed his instrumental group to accompany Choir’s performance; agreeded to the realization for choir his songs; gave his approval to S. Pasteris’ and M. Pitzianti’s harmonisations and arrangements; drew the CD cover).
3) 2008 – The title of this CD, Il Coro canta ai Bimbi (The Choir sings for children), is referred to Sergio Pasteris Project “Il Coro dell’Università degli Studi di Torino entra negli Ospedali e nelle Strutture Socio-Sanitarie” (Turin University Choir enters Hospitals and Social-Sanitary Structures).
4) 2009 – The DVD Il Coro tra immagini e burattini (The Choir between pictures and puppets) collects 1083 pictures returned by children about the Project referred to point 3.
5) 2011 – CD with recording live of Missa pro Pace (Mass for Peace), for the Turin University Choir Tenth Anniversary, together with Fiatinsieme Orchestra and Händel Choir (Missa pro Pace of D. Carnevali and a new version of Mozart Requiem).
6) 2011 - CD Compositori in Piemonte (Piedmont composers) with songs written specially for the Choir by Azio Corghi, Gilberto Bosco, Alberto Colla (and others), and referred to the Sergio Pasteris Project Ricerca e Sperimentazione Musicale Continua (Musical Steady Research and Experimentation) for the Turin University Choir.
7) 2012 - CD Il Coro canta Piazzolla (The Choir sings Piazzolla).
