What does PTO even stand for? How can be involved?
PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. All parents are welcome to be part of the Park PTO. We understand that every person also has a different capacity to help. Because of that, we have committees that are less time intensive and some that are more, as well as volunteer positions during and after school/work hours. We do our best to accommodate everyone and allow parents of all circumstances to participate in PTO.
Is joining PTO a huge time commitment?
This entirely depends on your level of involvement.
PTO meetings are held once every other month - we ask that executive and advisory board members make at least 60% of the meetings.
Our committees range in time commitments based on how much work and planning goes into a particular event or program. Committees like the Park Prowl fundraiser may take more time, but committees like Hot Dog Picnic, Book Fair, and School Supply Kits may take less. If you are curious about the time commitment for a particular committee, ask a board member and we'd be happy to help you find one that's right for you!
How do I volunteer?
Volunteer opportunities will come home in your child's backpack and through Park School newsletters and our Facebook PTO Page and group page. Contact the committee chair directly, and or email to any PTO Executive Board member are always welcome.
I have some ideas, can I bring them to a meeting?
The best way to stay informed on new happenings and to suggest ideas is to come to a PTO meeting. Submit ideas to any of the committee members.
Why should I join PTO?
Joining PTO gives you a really easy way to make friends and meet other parents in the Cross Plains / Park School community. In addition, you'll learn so much about how the school operates, how things are paid for and get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how all the fun activities your child enjoys come to be.
There are opportunities for EVERY parent at Park Elementary School to help out, from volunteering in classrooms to volunteering at events to chairing a committee and joining the board. We love having fresh perspective and new voices and faces at our meetings - can't wait to see you there!
