Beginners: Lesson 2
Where do I get coupons?
In our area, our resources are kind of limited, but there are still lots of ways to get coupons.
Newspapers
Update: Liberal news ONLY has P&G coupons now.
Update: Hutch's convenience stores in Liberal have the Wichita Eagle also.
Woodward News and Oklahoman have the same coupons (should be almost the same as Wichita Eagle)
* You can get a preview of the coupons that are going to be in Sunday's paper. You can sign up for a weekly e-mail if you like.
Coupons in magazines
All You magazine has lots of coupons every month. I subscribe through the school fundraisers or find a special online. You can only purchase this magazine at Walmart and some of the coupons can only be used at Walmart or the products may only be available at Walmart. The cost is about $2. There are usually a few more coupons in the store version compared to the subscription.
This was a special awhile back, worth checking to see if it available. Subscribe to Allyou at magazines.com through ebates and get up to 52% cashback
Internet Printable Coupons
There are many ways to get coupons from the internet. For now, let’s stick to a simple method.
1. Make your grocery list.
2. Go to a website that has a coupon database, such as Couponing101 Coupon Database
or Hot Coupon World Coupon Database (if you want to see all the coupons here, you will need to create an account. It is free and they do not send you e-mails unless you specifically request updates)
3. Type in the name of an item, include brand if you want. The list of available coupons will appear. If they are printable coupons, they will be underlined, may be in blue, and when you click on them, it will take you to a site where you can print them. Here are some trusted sites: This section probably needs updated!
To print coupons, you may have to install coupon printing software to your computer. If you go to a link for a printable coupon and you don’t know whether to trust what it is asking you to do, Contact me and I will check on it for you.
Coupons in and on packages
Look for coupons on or in the boxes of things you buy. If it stuck to the outside of a package, it is called a “peelie”. Do not remove this unless you are buying that box or package. (Don’t steal)
Tearpads and Blinkies
Sometimes stores have coupons for you to take. They may be on a tearpad or coming out of a machine. They also may hand out coupons when they are giving free samples of a product (Saturdays and Sundays at Walmart). You can take several of these, but please don’t take them all!
Coupons that Print at the Register of Stores like Dillons and Walgreens
I will explain more about these later, but for now just remember these can be valuable. If you happen to get some, do not throw them away. You may be able to use them at Walmart. And as you go through these lessons, you will learn how to use them at other stores.
Coupons that come in the Mail
These can also be valuable. We will talk more about these later. For now, just hold on to any and all coupons that you can find! *Dillons will mail coupons to you if you have a plus card!
