Beginners: Lesson 1
What are coupons?
Here is some basic information about how coupons work from Couponing101.com (one of my favorite sites/blogs)
Coupon Basics: What Every Couponer Needs to Know
Lately, paper coupons are harder and harder to come by. Everything is going digital. Some stores offer digital coupons that work like a paper coupon would. You save money at the register if you have the coupon loaded to your loyalty card, either on the store's app or website. In our area, Dillons and Dollar General have digital coupons. You can also use cashback apps to get money back from purchases, either as a giftcard or a deposit to Paypal or sometimes to a bank account. You can find more information about these ever-changing cashback programs here Money-making Apps and Online Programs: My referrals. Make sure you sign up with a referral link or code if there is one!
How much can I really save using coupons?
Most advanced couponers say they save 50-80% on their grocery bill. The amount you save depends on many things, including how much time and effort you put into it. Just to get an idea of the products and prices you can get with coupons and sales, here is my spreadsheet of "best prices" I have got since 2010 when I started becoming a serious couponer.
