Meet the Farmers

Abhijiit Khumar

Abhijiit is the project coordinator and master farmer. Originally from Luzon, Philippines, he is a highly skilled natural farmer and permaculture designer, having designed organic farms in the Philippines and Thailand. He was awarded “Outstanding Farmer” at the barangay, municipal and provincial levels for his development of Balik Paraiso as an integrated organic farm in Becol, Luzon, Philippines. Abhijiit is an amazing vegetarian cook – creating surprising taste sensations out of all kinds of fruits and vegetables. He is also a singer, song writer and guitarist - the Philippines answer to Bob Dylan. He sings about such things as saving the environment and childrens rights.

Amrta Busilak

Originally from Luzon, Philippines, Amrtamrita is a fantastic vegetarian cook and skilled musician – singer, songwriter, guitarist and drummer. He has created the authentic “recycled drum kit” out of old plastic drums, containers and plates. Abhijiit and Amrtamrita have started a folk-rock band in Roxas to bring positive messages to the local live music scene.
