Campers,
You are receiving this email because you signed up for our fall camping trip to Buck Hill Scout Reservation on September 26-28. Please let me know if you can no longer attend or if the number of people you signed up with has changed.
We are staying in the Holland Point camp site.
A few more camp specific details-
We are going rain or shine.
We will be doing some hiking, so bring appropriate footwear and day packs.
We will have access to water in camp.
Fishing is allowed anywhere along the pond except for the swim area.
The camp has firewood. Please do not bring any with you.
The shooting and other activity areas you see on the map are not available to us on this trip.
This is going to be a lightly structured weekend in the woods. There is no specific itinerary. Leaders will arrive at the camp at 5pm Friday night. We will eat lunch in camp and take a hike after lunch, probably by 1pm. We will start the fire for dinner around 5. We will have hot chocolate for the kids Saturday night and Sunday morning. We can make hot water but you will need to bring your own coffee/tea.
Food:
Remember to bring a simple dinner for Friday night, breakfast and lunch for Saturday, dinner Saturday night, and breakfast for Sunday morning.
For Saturday night, I personally think finger foods are easiest- hamburgers, hot dogs, maybe chicken. We will have a camp stove to boil water for pasta and grates to use for cooking over the fire. Breakfast Sunday morning can be hot or cold.
The pack would prefer you bring your own reusable plates/utensils/mess kits. We will provide a washing station. The pack will not provide plates or utensils for this trip.
The pack will have water jugs in camp. Make sure every person has their own water bottle for the weekend.
Packing:
Be prepared for rain and cold. The forecast keeps changing so be ready with raincoats. It is also a good idea to pack extra blankets for sleeping.
Participants should bring: water bottles, camp chairs, sleeping bags, camping mats or air mattresses with battery-powered air pumps, tents, flashlights/headlamps, and bug spray. You may want to consider a wagon or wheeled cart to transport your belongings. I have a wagon you can borrow as well.
The pack has tents and other gear for people to borrow but please let me know what you need as soon as possible. We will not have extra gear with us on Saturday.
Class B t-shirts are great but leave the uniforms, neckerchiefs, belts, etc at home.
Per Scouts BSA, St. Joseph’s Church, and Pack 748 rules, alcohol and other non-medically prescribed drugs (regardless of legal status) are strictly forbidden on all pack activities when Scouts are present. This rule is in place from the beginning of a pack event until its conclusion, regardless if Scouts are visible to you or sleeping. This applies to everyone, is in force 24 hours a day, even if you leave the event and then return. Tobacco use in front of the scouts is also forbidden. For more information or a packing check list please see BSA's recommending packing list: https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34-49.pdf
Scouts are welcome to bring board/card games to play in camp. Please leave electronics at home.
Medical forms:
Medical forms part A and B are required for every participant on a camping trip. If you are new to the pack, please download the form and bring it with you. Do not email it to me. We only need parts A and B, not C.

Arrival:
I plan to arrive by 10am on Saturday. We will break camp after breakfast Sunday morning. Families are welcome to stay at the camp as long as they wish.
Feel free to call me with any questions.
