The Washington Community High School Homecoming Parade is a community favorite event so big that all the schools dismiss early in order to participate!
Date: Friday, October 3, 2025
Time: 1:30pm - 3pm (estimated ending)
Uniform: Class A Field Uniform
Activity Coordinator: Kyle Kamischke (309-253-5811, kamfam613@gmail.com)
NOTE: The route is different this year due to construction on BR24!
We will plan on meeting at the Grange Shelter Parking Lot in Washington Park. (725 Lincoln Street) at 1:30 PM. You will need to park wherever they are allowing it in the neighborhood around the park and parade staging area.
The parade starts by the parking lot north of Lincoln Grade School. The route proceeds south, then turns west onto Jefferson street where it ends by the high school. This parade route is much shorter than the normal route. Please be sure to bring a wagon and/or water for your scout (especially if you're throwing candy). Depending on temperatures, I would recommend against bringing chocolate.
Please help your Scout spread out the candy supply to last the entire parade route so they don't run out before the Jefferson Street stretch where there are still spectators.
Scouts also have the opportunity to take turns carrying the US and Pack flags during a portion of the route.
We prefer that each Scout have a parent walk with us if possible in order to keep things simple when trying to reunite everyone at the end of the parade. If you can't do this, please reach out to Kyle Kamischke (309-253-5811, kamfam613@gmail.com). Everyone is responsible for their own transportation to and from the parade. Per Scouting America policy, Lion and Tiger Scouts must be accompanied by a parent.
We also recommend making sure they wear comfortable walking shoes (not flip flops) and dress for the weather.
