Getting Started
When is a good time to get started?
Like most Cub Scout Packs, we go year-round. You can become a scout at anytime. Just contact our Cubmaster or the Den Leader in your age group - or, you are welcome to just show up at one of our meetings.
If you have an interest in learning more about Pack 1290, if you have questions, or if you are ready to get started, email us at Pack1290Frisco@gmail.com. It only takes a minute and we will contact you shortly.
When do we meet?
Our Den and Pack meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month. The first meeting of each month is normally led by each of our Den Leaders. Our second meeting of each month, is part Den Meeting and part Pack Meeting.
You are welcome to stop by if you are considering joining the pack. We gear the meeting towards the kids and the goal is to have fun and recognize them for their recent accomplishments (with awards, pins, loops, badges, and whatever else we dream up).
What is the Cost of Joining?
First - don't let the cost scare you off. It's not that expensive and our Pack is able to assist if you need help. The person to see about assistance is the Committee Chair. This will be kept confidential.
Second - Our yearly membership fee is $75.00 and it covers our membership fees to Circle 10 Council but also covers the costs of keeping Pack 1290 going. In addition, each scout receives a monthly newsletter - Boys Life Magazine.
Our Scouts will need a uniform shirt and handbook. The uniform shirt is used between 1st and 3rd grade - so make sure to buy one that will cover that period of time. The handbook, neckerchief and slide (that holds their neckerchief) changes each year. We leave it up to our Webelos to decide if they would like to change their uniform shirt to the olive shirts - so there may be an additional cost at that time.
