Arrival – Friday after 4pm (gates close at 10pm on Friday)
Departure – Sunday after Sunday Morning Service/Tear Down (everyone must leave by 2pm)
All Pack 1290 Cub Scouts and families are invited to attend our annual Fall Campout. When we ask our
Scouts what they like most about being a Cub Scout – it is always about the camping!! This year's Fall
Campout will be two days but is also open to those that can only camp one night or come for the day.
And, best of all, there are no camping fees as Pack 1290 will be picking up the fees for camping.
This year's campout is different than our typical campout in that Iron Horse (our District within Circle 10 Council) chose the same weekend to hold a Cub-O-Ree camping event at Camp Wisdom which will be open to all families and packs of Iron Horse District. So, we will be camping out and attending activities with scouting families from our district only.
This weekend will be jam-packed with fun and includes BB gun shooting, archery and lots of games and
activities (including walking the plank on the Cub World Pirate Ships.) Please know that none of the activities are required and your family is welcome to just hang out at the campsite, if you like. Just make sure to come well rested and ready to enjoy the great outdoors with your family and scouting friends.
Where Are We Going? We will be camping at the campsites at Camp Wisdom. These are one big wooded, very private space (away from the highway) where everyone in our Pack should be able to set up a tent. We will be close together (please be understanding) and we will be sharing one humongous firepit. No grills at this site but feel free to bring a stove or your own grill. Boy and Girl restrooms are right next to our campsite but they are rather rustic. There is an outdoor faucet and sinks in the restroom. You can take about a 5 minute walk to nicer restrooms (with showers and AC.) Just gettin’ you prepared.
What About Weather? High temperature will be in the mid-eighties and low temperature will be mid-sixties. As you know, Texas weather changes – please be prepared. No rain in the forecast, though. Should be very mild.

What to Wear? Scouts should wear their Class B – Scout t-shirt and shorts/pants. No need to wear Class A (Field) uniform. Please wear good walking shoes – everyone!! Parents if you bought yourself a Class B, you are welcome to wear it, too.
What NOT to Bring - Radios, Televisions, Pets, Electronic Games, Axes, Aerosols, Fireworks, Non-Approved Cub Scout Pocket Knives
Parents – Sorry, no alcohol, tobacco products or firearms at BSA camping events. We try to keep
electronic use to a minimum, as well. Please be understanding as the Cub-O-Ree and our pack
campout is run strictly by volunteers. Flexibility and understanding of the adult volunteers
is appreciated.
What do we do when we get there? Your family will drive out to Camp Wisdom at a time that is convenient for you. We do highly recommend that you setup during daylight hours, though.
When you arrive at Camp Wisdom we are expecting that someone with the District will be at check-in asking you which Pack you are with, how many are camping with your family and will also check Medical Forms A&B. You will need to have these with you and completed. The most important piece of information on the forms is shot records for your children and the date you last had a tetanus shot. Everyone at a BSA campout must complete the forms. This is very, very important. They will not let you in without them. To download the Medical Forms A&B, CLICK HERE.
Note about Medical Forms A&B Once you complete the forms, make a print and digital copy for yourself, for potential future use. The only time you will need to update this form is if and when it changes and/or medical details change. This form is required of all of our scouts when they attend a Circle 10 and Iron Horse District event.
Once the paperwork is signed off on, we understand that you will be able to drive your vehicle to the campsite to unload. Once unloaded, you will need to quickly move your vehicle to the parking lot and walk back.
What We Need from You
It is very important that we hear from everyone to ensure we have enough supplies, camping space and food.
CLICK HERE to reserve your family's spot! Please RSVP by October 12th to reserve a campsite for your family. If you would like to take part in Pack 1290's Cookout on Saturday night, we ask that you help provide some fixins'. We keep it very simple - hotdogs, chips, fresh fruit/veggies, and S'MORES!!! Please bring your own drinks.
