ABOUT OREGON JSHS
Oregon Junior Science & Humanities Symposium is sponsored by the US Army, Navy, and Air Force and is open to all High School Students from the state of Oregon who are US Citizens. Students will submit summaries of their independent research. After the submission deadline the judges will blindly review each summary and select twelve student semifinalists to present their research at the 2021 Oregon JSHS held virtually this year on Saturday, February 20th. The semifinalist will be competing for the chance to win scholarships and a paid trip to the National JSHS. Every student that submits a Research Summary is invited to the symposium, where students will be presenting their research, working their way through a virtual science escape room, and meet with a renouned scientist.
The top five student presenters will be chosen to go on to the National Competition in April 14 - 17, 2021 (virtual event this year). To learn more about the National JSHS competition, visit the National JSHS website.
Oregon JSHS Student Scholarship Awards – A total of $4,500 awarded to the Oregon finalists:
1st place - $2,000
2nd place - $1,500
3rd place - $1,000
Oregon JSHS Teacher Award - $500 award to honor the teacher for their contributions to student's research pursuits.

1st week in February - Student Semifinalist Invitations will be sent to the authors of the top 12 Research Summaries
ALL STUDENTS who submit Research Summaries will be invited to attend and the top 12 authors will be invited to present their research
February 20, 2021 - Oregon JSHS Vitrual Event
April 14 - 17, 2021 - National JSHS Virtual Event
