Be a Mentor

Junior Science and Humanities Symposium U2 Mentoring Program

Junior Science and Humanities Symposium, a Tri-Services sponsored STEM competition, is respectfully requesting support pairing interested U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force Scientists & Engineers with JSHS student participants, to act as virtual mentors for the 2021 JSHS competition year. This year, JSHS is offering a U2 (Underserved and Underrepresented) kit comprised of specialized programing plus resource and materials tools that would help provide resources for students that experience physical or economical barriers.

The goal is to help create a more equitable playing field for U2 students by providing resources that are necessary to participate fully in JSHS. The kit includes additional programing offered specifically for U2 students virtually as an extension of the online Mentoring program.

6 mentors with specialized experience in working with U2 students will be selected to participate in a U2 mentoring program meant to enrich the experiences of a U2 student participating in JSHS. Selected U2 Mentors will receive a $1,000 honorarium for their participation and expertise.
