ENJOY!
In appreciation of their volunteer work, the San Francisco Opera is offering ushers the opportunity to attend (without volunteering) the Final Dress Rehearsal of Die Walküre on Saturday, June 11, 6:00pm, and also to request seats for guests.
As long as space permits:
- Any Nutcracker-qualified volunteer may signup to attend the rehearsal as a guest; all others may request to attend as a guest.
- Any Nutcracker-qualified volunteer may request to host up to two guests
Please note that hosting guests does not automatically also put the volunteer's name on the guest list. To attend, a volunteer must be signed up as a guest, which requires a separate action through PRESTO. A host may place a request for guests without attending.
Those signed up to usher the dress rehearsal (and all volunteers may still request to do so as long a space permits) may directly add up to two names to the guest list ("edit form" next to the signup for the rehearsal) and, if Nutcracker-qualified, further request to host up to two more guests. Even though PRESTO allows it, a volunteer cannot both usher and attend as a guest.
Using PRESTO
This rehearsal is included in two PRESTO "events":
"The Ring of the Nibelung" - for ushering (the usual way)
"Die Walküre rehearsal special" - for attending as a guest of SF Opera and/or hosting up to two guests without ushering
All those attending as a guest need to know:
- Admittance starts at 5:45pm, only through the usual usher door; after 6:00pm, the designated entrance is the Carriage Door.
- All guests' names must be on the guest list; there are no tickets or vouchers being distributed beforehand.
- Seating is in Balcony/Balcony Circle.
- The guest list closes on Friday, June 10, at noon. Even if PRESTO allows changes to guest names after that, it will be too late for the change to be reflected on the printed roster.
One way for volunteers to show that they value SF Opera's offer is to follow the guidelines here and to ensure that their guests, once approved, do so as well. Any questions should be directed by e-mail to <ushers@sfopera.com> no later than noon on Friday, June 10.
The Scheduling Team
(Posted 6/6; revised 6/10)
Signing up and requesting function the standard way; requests must be approved (and that includes the hosting of guests). To find out the status of a request, volunteers use PRESTO to view their schedule. (For details, see the FAQ's 2.5 - 2.7.)Guidelines
