Yeah Yeah Noh Another Side To Mrs. Quill
Label: In Tape ITTI 020 12
Yeah Yeah Noh were a psychedelic pop band extraordinaire from the UK circa 1985. Their music was a cross between psychedelic swirl and the pop of day. Infectious and very fine listening. Yeah Yeah Noh were a trio on this track, with Rob Grant - guitar, Ade Grossman - bass, and Sue Dorey - drums. John Grayland - guitar, and Derek Hammond - vocals filled out the band on the rest of the disc.
Picks: Penetration
"Penetration"
This is among the more unusual covers of the Pyramids' lone hit, and easily among the best. The backtrack is pretty standard, but the lead guitar is super compressed, uses ringing swirling tones, sways with the rise and fall of the surf, and delivers a disquieting feeling of glee. Fine track.
