This course aims to train students to have knowledge in wireless and mobile Networking. At the completion of this course, students are expected to understand and apply knowledge of the key issues that differentiate wireless and wired Networks and communications. The students will also be well-versed with selected recent paradigm-shifting concepts being developed in the research community. Through hands-on projects, the students are expected to familiarize themselves with wireless technologies. First course in wireless networking providing a comprehensive treatment of wireless data and telecommunication networks. Topics: Basic concepts underpinning wireless communication, modulation and detection, multiplexing and multiple access, spread-spectrum techniques, introduction to mobile networks (2G, 3G, 4G)
The students are expected to come prepared for the lectures by reading the chapters assigned for each week ahead of time.
