Dear Sir,
I’m Joseph Kwadwo Asare, DIT student, GTUC. You taught me Data Communication and Networks a few months ago. I have a story which I believe is worth sharing with you. And that is;
When I was in elementary school, my dream job was to be a politician (Minister) until ICT was introduced. I became so excited about it. Later, my dream job changed. I simply wanted to find myself in the technology industry to create and develop things to make life better. I remember when I was 9, I used to sketch cell phone on a piece of wood. Then I will dial numbers and assume it’s real phone. Though I developed an extreme interest in technology at a young age but I quite didn’t know exactly which field of technology I belong to.
After high school, I still didn’t know what to do with my life though I had the technology thing in mind. University wasn’t part of my life plans because there was no hope (the society I come from is very difficult and there is no sign of furthering education after high school).
Now, I happen to be a student of GTUC by hard work, and with the help of some great people who believe in me. And also, with your incredible help, I now understand some technological concept which I couldn’t explain to people earlier.
At first, my mum will ask me what kind of magic used by the white people to create phones, television among others. Her main concern was how these devices work (reaching out to friends and family at a different location within minutes). Again, I couldn’t let her understand what was really happening in there. Until you taught me these valuable ideas.
Now, I strongly believe in myself that I can boldly explain to her what happens when she uses her cell phone to make calls.
On the more serious note Sir, I’ve developed an extreme interest in Data Communication and Networks. Due to that, I do not want to learn, get good grades and move on but I really want to dive more seriously into this course and mostly make it a profession.
I want to sincerely thank you for the knowledge you’ve equipped me and the advice you gave in class.
