PLEASE NOTE:
This workshop is not being offered at this time.
This is a 3-day workshop that addresses the creative enrichment of the theater artist on and off the stage, and in or out of the rehearsal studio.
Participants include: actors, stage & film directors, theater makers and performing artists
This workshop focuses on engaging the creativity of the theater artist both on or off of the stage, and inside or outside of the rehearsal room. In other words, the theater artist's creative life practice.
In traditional acting classes and theater training programs, the primary and necessary focus is on the craft of the actor and the business of the performing arts. What is not often addressed is how to live a fulfilling creative life before, during, and after each project.
With or without a production, the individual theater artist requires on-going enrichment of their creative life that brings a quality of fulfillment no matter what production project they are working on and no matter what job they are doing to earn a living.
Participants benefit from:
Engaging and enriching their craft
Building a deeper creative connection to themselves as artists
Identifying resources for a daily practice in manifestation, transformation, and actualization
Exercises are followed by group dialogue, journaling and contemplation. Participants will be asked to bring in 4-5 lines from of newly memorized text. There will also be a creative pre-class assignment given to each participant to prepare in advance of the first day of the workshop.
Over the course of this workshop, participants engage in a combination of physical activities, investigations, and experimentation through group and individual exercises taken from the OTOA Performance Technique & Training (PTT)™ format and combined with activities from OTOA Creative Life Practice (CLP)™.
OTOA PTT is a method for creating a vivid, engaged and dynamic life on stage or screen.
OTOA PTT identifies incremental components of thought as specific moments of physical action.
OTOA PTT brings specificity, versatility and dynamic physical vitality to the stage
OTOA CLP offers guiding principles for clarifying goals, to bring balance and focus into our multitasking life styles.
OTOA CLP is a technique-driven approach towards the creative process of our daily lives -- bringing a more holistic perspective to how we engage in our lives.
