Student Conduct Committee (SCC)
-- Formerly Faculty Judicial Committee (FJC) --
-- A College-Wide Committee --
This is an elected committee. Elections are conducted in the Spring.
The purposes of the Committee are
1) to provide a pool of faculty who will serve on Conduct Board Hearings; and
2) to serve as a continuing source of input and feedback to the Director of Student Conduct as to the effectiveness, efficiency, and fairness of the College's student conduct process as a whole.
Committee members serve as faculty representatives on the Conduct Board Hearings. The cases heard by the Conduct Board involve behavioral issues which range from noise or visitation violations to sexual assault and physical assault. New incoming members receive training from the Director of Student Conduct. Faculty representatives will be given a schedule at the beginning of the semester with the time/date/place of their hearings (normally not more than four per semester). Conduct Board Hearings are scheduled for three hours, but are typically resolved two hours.
