Boy Scouting is a character-building and leadership development program for boys who are 11, or are at least 10 years old and have completed the fifth grade or have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award, through 17 years old. Boys experience a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster to achieve the BSA's objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness. Camping, fun with friends -- and more. It’s the adventure of a lifetime.
Give your son a valuable gift by encouraging him to join Boy Scouting today. The time you invest in him today is time well-spent -- and it will make a difference in the man he becomes tomorrow.
Troop 280 is a Scout-led unit. Objectives for the Troop -- as decided by the Scouts themselves -- are to be competent in emergency preparedness, camping, hiking, and outdoor cooking.
The adult leaders aim for Troop alumni to be responsible, self-reliant young men serving their families, churches, and communities. We emphasize selfless service, leadership development and competence in Scout skills. Our Scouts are predominantly Catholic, but we welcome all who strive to live according to the values embodied in the Scout Law and Oath.
Parents are welcome to join as well; Scouting is a family activity. Many of our parents who were Boy Scouts as kids enjoy Scouting even more as adults!
We meet weekly on Wednesdays at 7 pm to 8:15 pm in the Annunciation Catholic School Gym.
If you are interested in joining Troop 280, please contact Scoutmasters Chris Wilson (505) 228-6392 or
Dennis Howard (505) 545-2210.
