Locomotives

I will do update Decoders and Sound one day!

Updated: 3 December 2016

I now have all the locos I need to run my planned layout. Many of them are still untouched kits. Some are half-built but will run. Others are reserved or ordered Ready To Run.

I tend not to start serious research of each prototype until I have the kit and so I have lots of work lined up in addition to building the kits. The layout is set in the period 1960 to 1967 with 1962 as the preferred date for the condition of steam locos. I had hoped to keep to 2 digit addressing for my decoders but recent purchases have changed that to 4 digits. Choice of loco requires the last 4 digits of the number to be unique in my fleet. They are presented below in that order.

I have several LNER locos and some rolling stock inherited from my Dad. This is complete and I have fitted decoders to most of them so there is some colour, other than brass, running on the layout.

I had always admired the GWR 47xx class on Martin Finney's stand at shows. My wife bought it for me long before I decided that I needed a theme for the layout to avoid a random collection of stock. See: GWR 47xx. Similarly the Terrier was my first O gauge acquisition.

I bought the 61xx after agreeing to test build a reduction to 3mm scale.
